"... and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart."

ACTS 2:46

SYNAXIS is the Greek word that was used in the 1st Century to describe "house-to-house" gatherings of believers and their guests.  The definition of the word "synaxis" is ... “a gathering; a coming together; a reunion.” Synaxis gatherings literally became the primary expression of the church following its birth in Acts 2, in The Upper Room. While synaxis gatherings are mentioned throughout the New Testament, the Apostle Paul gives us the clearest picture of what took place in such gatherings. In 1 Corinthians, he reveals that synaxis gatherings were were built upon five (5) fundamental pillars:

Fellowship & Breaking Bread
Communion
Praise & Worship Unto Encounter
Encounter & Equipping of believers to understand, develop & exercise their spiritual gifts
Development of a "Go ye therefore ..." mindset

Following The Upper Room encounter on The Day of Pentecost, things shifted GREATLY!
Every week, the members of the early church met in synaxis gatherings.

Congregational gatherings in the temple were no longer the focal point of religion!

Congregational gatherings in the temple, formerly for the purpose of EDUCATION in The Law, became CELEBRATION gatherings in synagogues that functioned as incubators for faith and vision. Small synaxis gatherings became the center of spiritual life among the people, serving as incubators for personal encounter and the development of each individual's "charismata" [spiritual gifts]. In synaxis gatherings, believers were trained to discover, develop, and practice the release of spiritual gifts. It was the supernatural power and effectiveness of these house-to-house gatherings that caused the
New Testament church to explode across the known world across the 1st & 2nd centuries!

Through our development of The New Wine Network,  FLM is committed to restoring the foundational and vital call to raise up healthy families ... both individually and in the life of the Body of Christ as a whole. Through the revelation and experiences of our ABIDE GROUPS, we believe we will see a return to the original intent of The New Testament Ekklesia!
